Our members are our customers

We have been working for more than a century on the water management development of the Emscher-Lippe region, in the interests of our members. We also consider our members to be our customers, and offer them technically and economically optimal solutions based on their needs. Our member relations are characterised by competence, reliability and fair partnership. We achieve this through trusting cooperation and intensive communication. We respond constructively to criticism. We accept suggestions and requests from our partners, in order to continuously develop as a result.

Therefore, another important foundation for the success of our work is that our members are decisively involved in defining objectives and making decisions in the committees of the Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband. Through the integration of water management tasks into a higher-level concept, we develop future-oriented solutions for our members, which simultaneously serve the further development of the Emscher-Lippe region.

The work of EG/LV is economical and process-oriented

We fulfil the tasks assigned to us in a cost-conscious and efficient manner, and with a view to sustainable resource management. In the process, we always deliver our services in compliance with the technical and statutory boundary conditions, such that the fees of our members can be kept as low as possible. This bundling of tasks for our members, and our legal form offer decisive advantages for our members. As a result, the bundling of tasks across municipal boundaries generate synergy effects within the framework of integrated waterbody management. EG/LV is committed to a Continuous Improvement Process, whereby our processes are subject to continuous optimisation and we consistently apply measures to improve quality.

Our legal form ensures that the membership fees alone serve to cover the necessary costs, because our activities are not profit-oriented. Through the continuous development and application of modern management methods, we secure the foundation on which we will be able to assert ourselves sustainably under competitive market conditions.

We utilise ecological and technical developments for the population and the environment

We know that water is life! Our mindset and activities are oriented to achieving the well-being of the people living in the region. Protecting the environment is a high priority for us. All measures that we take aim to retain and further develop the favourable effects of water on the ecosystem, the (urban) landscape, and the population. We achieve these objectives through the application of ecological knowledge and technical progress, in order to further develop the Emscher and Lippe as uninterrupted aquatic habitats, provide the region with optimal infrastructure, and improve the quality of life in the region.

We are part of the region and are actively involved in shaping the structural change

We are actively involved in shaping the Emscher-Lippe region, by setting water management standards within the framework of the structural change, create highlights through open space planning, and make available the necessary infrastructure. As part of these activities, we are in contact and open dialogue with the stakeholders involved in the development of our region. With our expertise and experience, we would like to influence the public dialogue, the political consensus-building, and hence the structural change in the Emscher-Lippe region.

Our employees are the basis for our success

We are aware that all employees of EG/LV do their part towards achieving our ambitious goals through trusting collaboration. We therefore work on the basis of shared principles of management and cooperation. Our work together is characterised by interaction on a partnership basis, and autonomous and independently responsible activity. The management personnel encourage independence on the part of their employees. When assigning the authority to act and make decisions, they take into consideration their employees' personal skills and knowledge.

For us, the focus is on people, whose technical competence and personal qualities we continuously develop within the framework of the agreed goals.
